Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende
Former Staff Sergeant Clinton L. Romesha enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1999. He was deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and once to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. At the time of the deadly attack on Combat Outpost (COP) Keating on 3 October 2009, Staff Sgt. Romesha was assigned as a section leader for Bravo Troop, 3-61st Cavalry, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. He is the recipient of numerous awards and decorations, including the Medal of Honor, which has been received by only twelve others for the heroism they displayed while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. Romesha separated from the Army in 2011. He lives with his family in North Dakota.

One of the best reports of modern battles I've ever read!The author has the very rare ability to describe his impressions and take you with him into the fierce battle for his life without reminding you every second page what a great guy he is. This book gives you a sober and modest insight into the life of an infantry soldier on the unrelenting battlefield in Afghanistan. Not shy to call out good and bad leadership on the battlefield, the detailed account of a well coordinated and executed attack on his combat outpost shows heroism and the necessary decisions and to survive an ordeal like this.I can highly recommend this book.
Die Bilder, die diese wahre Erzählung vom Überfall auf COP Keating im Kopf erzeugt, sind hundert mal intensiver als die Videos auf Youtube. Clinton Romesha schreibt pointiert, detailreich ohne zu langweilen und immer mit Seele.

As an Afghanistan Veteran myself I found this book very impressive. It realistically shows what we were up against and what challenges the war in Afghanistan presented and still presents.
